Summertime 2022

Let us remember…that we are in the holy presence of God.
+ In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Generous Creator of all, we thank You for summer!
Thank you for the warmth of the sun and the increased daylight.
Thank you for the beauty we see all around us
and for the opportunity to be outside and enjoy Your creation.
Thank you for the increased time we have to be with friends and family,
and for the more casual pace of the summer season.
Help us to be ever mindful of those in need
and guide us in ways to bring about justice and harmony.
We pray in the powerful name of Jesus,
Saint John Baptist de La Salle – Pray for us.
Live, Jesus, in our hearts – Forever!

Summer Announcements

The Main Office at DeLaSalle is open during the summer on weekdays (except the 4th of July), 8:30am – 4:00pm. Many office personnel will be taking earned vacation time. It’s best to contact the staff person before traveling to the Island.

Summertime provides many opportunities for all students working toward their graduation requirement of 60 hours of service to offer Christian Service to our communities. Here are two resources that list a wide variety of local opportunities.
• Volunteer Match
• Hands On Twin Cities

Students who are in need of course credits for graduation due to failing grades (or anticipated failing grades) this year or in previous years, or who have transferred to DeLaSalle from a school with different course sequences or credit requirements, can enroll in summer school courses to get caught up. Students will need to work with their school counselor to get enrolled. Please reach out to your counselor ASAP if you need to enroll in 2022 summer school. Students may also be able to enroll in these required courses next school year at DeLaSalle in place of other elective courses. Please reach out to your counselor if that is your preference so that we can get these courses into your schedule.

Counselor Assignments:
Student’s Last Name A-H: Kimberly Mannel, 612-767-7664
Student’s Last Name I-P: Anastasia Carter-, 612-676-7619
Student’s Last Name Q-Z: Lindsay O’Keefe-, 612-676-7673

Throughout the summer, De offers student athletes opportunities to maintain good physical conditioning with summer workouts. Please click here to view the team workout schedules. These workouts are optional. Athletes should contact their coaches with any questions.

The Activities Office reminds everyone that the Minnesota State High School League requires a current (within three years) medical physical report be on file with the school before a student may participate in any athletics program in 2022-23. It’s likely that many rising seniors had a physical when entering ninth grade and will need to get a new one before next year. We ask that incoming ninth graders and returning students submit their physical to the Activities Office no later than August 1. Fall athletic programs will begin practice officially on August 15. MSHSL 2022-23 Sports Qualifying Physical Eligibility Form.

For the upcoming 2022-23 school year, we are transitioning school uniform attire that displays our current school logo and to the purchase of items through Donald’s Department Store. During this transition, students who have previous years’ uniform items (shirts, sweatshirts, pants, skirts) that are still in good condition may continue to wear these items. To read the complete uniform guideline, please click here.

This summer, the Islander Foundation program serves concessions stands at Twins baseball, Loons soccer, Lynx basketball, and concerts at the Xcel and Target Centers. Volunteers are scheduled to arrive two hours before the event begins and close the stand at the event’s end. Free parking is often available, if not, a parking voucher is usually provided. There are no household income restrictions to working with the IF program, all DeLaSalle families are invited to participate. Students who are at least 16 years of age can also volunteer. The assigned DLS stand is staffed completely by DeLaSalle families. This is a great way to meet other Islanders!

For more information about Islander Foundation, please contact Carlos Villagomez, 612.676.7607.

There’s still time to order a DeLaSalle 2022 yearbook. The 2021-2022 yearbook will be bursting with over 100 pages of photos, student portraits, activities, and highlights of the year. Order now to guarantee your copy at delivery time in July! Orders can be made on our online store. Pick your options and follow the ordering instructions.

DeLaSalle students may receive unlimited rides on Metro Transit buses and light rail trains this summer, June 1 to September 6, by purchasing a Student Summer Pass for $30. Students can get unlimited rides on buses and trains up to a $3.25 fare (for fares higher than that amount, like some Northstar trips, just add stored value to your pass). It’s perfect for summer jobs, sports leagues, and all the other fun that summer brings. All you need to purchase a pass is the school name (DeLaSalle) and your student ID. Summer passes are not available for purchase at DeLaSalle. Buy your Student Summer Pass with a credit card here or with cash or a credit card at a Metro Transit Service Center.

The Global Advantage Program (GAP) offers DeLaSalle students opportunities for international study and welcomes international students who choose to spend a semester, a year, or their entire high school career at DeLaSalle. Through collaborative relationships with universities, De students may earn college credit through rigorous international travel courses in a variety of academic topics and locations throughout the world. The pandemic caused GAP to be “put on pause.” The program expects to resume exchanges and international academic travel for the 2022-23 school year.

Currently, we are looking for host families for exchange students and international students. If you are interested in hosting, please fill out this form.

DeLaSalle students may also begin applying for exchanges with this form. Please contact Mr. Brad Casey with questions at
