Giving Tree
What is the Goal of the Giving Tree?
DeLaSalle places a high value on community-building and service. The value of service is stressed by making service a graduation requirement; students must complete 60 hours of service (along with reflection) to graduate from DeLaSalle. Caring for others, particularly those in need, is an essential part of the Lasallian tradition that has inspired the school from its inception. The Christian Service program is set up to reinforce this value and prepare students to be of service throughout their lives.
The Giving Tree highlights and recognizes is to students that go well beyond the 60 hour service requirement. The Giving Tree increases the greater good in the community through the promotion of service. By designing and leading an original service project, or by going above and beyond the 60-hour service requirement for graduation, students are recognized as Giving Tree recipient. As a result of recognition, students will be able to “pay it forward” by providing financial assistance to an anonymous DeLaSalle student in need and will be recognized on the Giving Tree.
