DeLaSalle teachers and staff – called to follow in the Lasallian tradition – partner with each student in his or her individual learning.
Academic support systems exist to provide students with the resources they need to be successful in their education at DeLaSalle and in their life journey after graduation.
Staff in the Guidance Office provide support for students dealing with personal situations or practical tips in areas such as setting goals, managing time, avoiding stress, staying healthy, taking tests, efficiently studying, and more. Learn about our College Advising & Counseling office here.
Teachers and staff members, in addition to their work responsibilities, serve as an academic advisor to a group of 10-12 students. Advisors perform a valuable role for students over their four years at DeLaSalle, serving as an advocate and yet another resource that students can turn to in navigating their courses and experience at DeLaSalle. Advisors meet formally with their advisees about five or six times throughout the school year to discuss academic progress, but also connect with them informally twice a week during the Advisory period.
Teachers are available to meet with students before and after school to review course material and work through subjects where students may need additional help.
Students who participate in National Honor Society are available to tutor students in a variety of subject areas, having already successfully completed the same classes in which their peers seek help.
DeLaSalle employs a full-time learning specialist, who partners with those students who have presented unique learning needs, such as 504 plans, individual education plans (IEPs) or needs due to concussion, physical injury or other emergency situations.
Observers have limited permissions that allow them to see what is going on in a course without interrupting the flow of daily course communication. Observers can view assignments, course events, communicate with instructors and view grades for the student(s) they are observing. Observers cannot submit work on behalf of the student(s) they observe, but they can see student grades, assignments and events, and course interactions.
