We want to highlight two Islanders who have been making an impact within our own community. Seniors Kathryn Piersma and McCall Vickers are both members of the Minneapolis Youth Congress, a representative body of middle to high schoolers around the Twin Cities that act as a voice for the youth of Minneapolis. They collaborate directly with elected Minnesota officials on policies and decisions that will affect the welfare of Minneapolis youth. Each member is assigned to a specific committee, like Education, Public Transportation, or Safety, and will focus on problems in that area.
