DeLaSalle High School is the longest-standing Catholic high school in the city of Minneapolis dating back to the early 1900s. Known for a strong commitment to our students, our mission is to serve students and families who seek a high-quality, values-based academic preparation for life. We fulfill this mission by respecting and affirming our heritage as a Catholic high school in the Lasallian tradition.
We are deeply committed to a diverse and well rounded student body. Our student body is unsurpassed in its rich diversity of personal backgrounds and stories. Owing to our tradition as a Lasallian school, and drawing from the charism associated with schools from 77 countries, we welcome and affirm all students. There is no Catholic or private high school in Minnesota as authentically diverse as DeLaSalle, where students of every race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic background are all called to Gospel values and academic excellence.
Our programming is focused on preparing students for success in their futures by providing meaningful and positive relationships and experiences to encourage students to pursue lives of learning, faith, and service to their communities. Our academics are intentionally rigorous and relevant. Every student in our school is outfitted with a tablet device and teachers across our school find ways to use technology in lessons and provide our students a modern and future-focused educational experience.
Our standardized test scores are among the best in Minnesota. Our course offerings allow students to dig deep and get the tools they need to succeed. We now offer 16 Advanced Placement (AP) courses where students can earn college credit while in high school. Our graduates attend many of the finest colleges and universities, and they say without hesitation that DeLaSalle prepared them to meet the challenges of higher education. We are proud to provide a great education for our students that truly has something for everyone.

DeLaSalle High School, the longest-standing Catholic high school in the city of Minneapolis, will continue to sustain and advance the educational vision defined more than three centuries ago by St. John Baptist de La Salle, founder of the Christian Brothers.
As demonstrated by an ongoing commitment to attract students from various economic levels, academic abilities, and racial and ethnic backgrounds, DeLaSalle extends beyond the facilitation of personal success and preparation for post-secondary education. Recognizing that individual talents are enhanced by positive relationships and experiences, DeLaSalle forms its students for adult lives of learning, faith, and service to their local, national, and global communities both during and after their formal education.
DeLaSalle seeks to create a future in which the youth of today are empowered and inspired to create for themselves and others communities, founded in excellence, compassion, and purpose.

The DeLaSalle Logo
DeLaSalle revealed a new logo in October 2020 as part of a brand revitalization led by students in cooperation with renowned graphic designer and DeLaSalle Hall of Famer Joe Duffy ‘67. The logo, inspired by student sketches and developed collaboratively through virtual conferences amid the pandemic, replaces one the school had used since the early 1990s. The logo is one element of the brand revitalization, which also includes an updated website, brand language, and other brand applications. You will likely see the former logo over time as the school phases in the new logo on school uniforms and athletic apparel, physical signage, and other uses.

Our Logo Components
The four facets of the DeLaSalle High School logo represent the school community’s beginning and continuing Catholic and Lasallian (Christian Brothers) heritage. The school colors were originally purple and gold. During the 1960’s the colors transitioned to black and gold. This design was created by DeLaSalle art students with guidance from Joe Duffy, a professional artist and DeLaSalle graduate.

“Go Big DE!” is one of the most-often heard cheers at pep fests and school competitions. DeLaSalle High School is the namesake of the founder of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, Saint John Baptist de La Salle. |

The cross is the most central and sacred symbol of Christianity declaring the redemptive power of Jesus Christ who died on a cross, rose from the dead, and promises eternal life with God. Lasallian schools seek to educate each student in faith, service, and community to succeed in this world as the path toward heavenly salvation. |

From its very first school day, DeLaSalle has been served by the leadership of the Christian Brothers. At the center of the seal of the Christian Brothers is a five-pointed Signum Fidei (Sign of Faith) star. The star is an official symbol used and recognized by Lasallians around the world. The star is a sign of faith that has led countless Christian Brothers and members of the Lasallian Family to advance the Lasallian mission for over 300 years. |

DeLaSalle is located near the northeast edge of downtown Minneapolis on historic Nicollet Island surrounded by the waters of the Mississippi River. The majestic Hennepin Avenue bridge, named for Father Louis Hennepin, provides access to campus and the island’s scenic walking and biking paths. |
