DeLaSalle is a Catholic high school which seeks to create a community of students from various economic levels, academic abilities, racial communities, and ethnic backgrounds.

In the Lasallian tradition founded by St. John Baptist de La Salle, the school strives to facilitate personal success and also to prepare students to be of service to society.

DeLaSalle admits students with an ability range from average to exceptional. Students with low academic ability or a history of behavioral difficulties should seek a more specialized learning environment.

Within the larger tradition of the Catholic Church, DeLaSalle regards spiritual development as a primary educational goal. All students are required to take Religious Studies courses and participate in school worship services.

Admission to Grade 9 is based on the following: (1) completion of application forms which includes middle school transcript; (2) a positive recommendation from a grade school teacher regarding academic potential and personal character; and (3) placement exam scores above the minimum percentile composite, and above the minimum percentile in math, reading, and language skills.

Ninth grade applications who do not meet the above criteria will be evaluated by a review committee. If accepted, admission may be unconditional, or probationary, or may depend upon academic criteria determined by DeLaSalle.

Students transferring to grade 10, 11, or 12 must (1) provide a current high school transcript; (2) provide a letter from a high school counselor or teacher attesting to academic potential and personal character; (3) if foreign-born, demonstrate competence in English; and (4) interview with a member of the admissions committee.

Transfer students are accepted at the start of the semester, unless there are very special circumstances. To receive a DeLaSalle diploma, 12th grade transfer students must normally be enrolled for the entire year.
