Grade 10 - PLAN (Preparation for the ACT test)
The PLAN® program helps tenth graders build a solid foundation for future academic and career success and provides information needed to address high-priority issues. It is a comprehensive guidance resource that helps students measure their current academic development, explore career/training options, and make plans for the remaining years of high school and post-graduation years.
Grade 11 - PSAT (Pre-Scholastic Aptitude Test)
The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a program cosponsored by CollegeBoard and NMSC. It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT®. It also gives students a chance to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation scholarship programs and gain access to college and career planning tools.
Test Results
The results of the above tests are returned to DeLaSalle in January 2012. School counselors will distribute and interpret the test results to students during a school class period. Parents and guardians are invited to a test interpretation meeting in early February of 2012.
AP Exams
DeLaSalle also administers AP exams in the spring of each school year. AP exams represent the culmination of AP courses, and are an integral part of the AP program. Each exam is based on the subject matter of the AP course. The exams contain multiple choice questions and a free-response section. There is a cost for this exam, which changes from year to year.
AP exams are scored by professors, AP teachers and trained consultants who use college-level grading standards. Each AP exam grade is a weighted combination of the student's score on the multiple choice section and the free-response section. More information on AP exam scores is available by clicking the link.
The AP Student and Parent Bulletin is available online. It gives an overview of the program, details on how to get AP scores to colleges, and test dates.
