COMPUTER GRAPHICS DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY
WEB DESIGN BUSINESS and PERSONAL FINANCE
The Computer Arts and Finance courses are taught in B202, one of the computer classrooms. In these courses, student work is graded with consideration to effort given and diligence.
The only question not allowed in these classes is: "Is this good enough?" Students are encouraged to do their best, be their best, and enjoy the personal satisfaction of a well-done project.
Beyond each course's specific subject matter, the following skills will be promoted and developed.
          •Preparation and Plannning       •Attention to Detail       •Self-Discipline

Computer Graphics
focuses on computer-generated graphic images in games (board and video), publications, media, and films. Using Adobe Illustrator, students will fashion original work as well as study and replicate the work of career artists. This course includes study of computer graphics in the professional worlds of cartooning, sports, greeting cards, advertising, books and illustration (Dr. Suess), and movie animation (Walt Disney).

Digital Photography offers students an opportunity to explore the composition elements of good photographs and the techniques and career options of professional photography, and then enjoy artistic manipulation of photos using Adobe Photoshop. DeLaSalle owns a classroom set of digital cameras for student use on photograph assignments --most of which take place on our own scenic Nicollet Island. Students may also choose to use their own personal camera.

The Web Design class explores excellence in design and creation of Internet web sites. Knowing HTML and how to build and maintain an Internet site are valuable skills for today's job market as well as helpful with personalizing social web pages. With Adobe Dreamweaver software, students will build commerical, social, and informational web pages. A final project will invite students to create a web site within specific parameters and, if met, the student's site may "go live" through the DeLaSalle school web site. Students who take Digital Photography and/or Computer Graphics before this course will be able to enhance their projects with original art and images.

In
Business and Personal Finance students look at career options, the job application and interview process, corporate cultures, business etiquette, and how to sustain enjoyable employment. The class will study bank accounts, loans, credit / debit cards, and investments. The units on home buying, car purchases, and household budgeting will feature real-life situations. The course also includes an introduction to business accounting and marketing.
